How to make a realistic microscopic world that strongly resembles a photo taken from a microscope.

Step 1
Open up a new document with a white background. The size doesn't matter in this tutorial, but I will be using 400x400.
Step 2
Reset your colors to black and white by pressing D on your keyboard. Now go to Filter>Render>Clouds then Filter>Render>Difference Clouds. Your image should resemble the following:

To create the "micro-organisms," go to Filter>Sketch>Reticulation and use the following settings:

Step 4
Now we're going to bring them out and make them look more realistic. Go to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges and your image should look similar to the following:

Now to round everything off and add to the realism, go to Filter>Stylize>Glowing Edges and use the following settings:

For the last step we're going to add some color to it. Hit Ctrl+U on your keyboard to bring up the colorize box. Be sure to check the Colorize box. Mess around with the settings to get something of your liking. I used the following settings:
